Samplephonics Vintage Drum Breaks Vol.1

Boy have we got something special for you…591 of the fattest, chunkiest, raw drum loops money can buy. Laced with a lethal dose of analogue saturation, this killer sample pack has all the ingredients needed to blow the bloody doors off!

Haven’t we heard enough of the Amen Break? Isn’t the James Brown Funky Drummer sounding a little dated? Well, we think it’s time to move on.

Enter Isaac Heywood, a world class session drummer and band member of Nightmares on Wax. This guy is unstoppable! Along with the guys at Greenmount Studio in Leeds and their collection of vintage mics, tape machines, old analogue mixing desks and killer flat white coffees, something very special has arisen from all of this mayhem and bashing of things.

Each groove comes with 3 mix/mic combinations for total flexibility. Option 1 is a tight, chunky feel, number 2 is fat, juicy analogue fuzz and option 3 is crisp, lofi and crushed. The drum kit is a beautiful vintage Gretsch and was mic’d up with everything Greenmount could throw at it, including various rare broadcasting mics, ribbons, valves and an inverted NS-10 sub mic.

Everything was then tracked to 16 track 2 inch tape. The machine is a pristine condition 3M M79 and has previously recorded some huge names in its previous life at Island Records studio in the 70’s and The Way Studios, London in the 90’s.

At mix down, the mic’s were selected to give a different vibe for each mix and then processed independently to give completely unique drum sounds.

The sample library out over tempos 90, 100, 110, 120, 140 and 170 there is something in here for every style, be that hip hop, disco, drum and bass, funk, soul, pop, rock, breaks, dubstep..you name it, it’s there!
