Gio Israel Andalusian Oud Vol. 2 [WAV]

Gio Israel Andalusian Oud Vol. 2
P2P | 29 January 2024 | 210.21 MB
The 'Sounds' series by Gio Israel is a window into the world's last remaining ancient musical traditions of our time.

The source of Andalusian music is attributed to legendary Persian musician - Ali Iben Nafiaa (AKA "ZRIAB"). Migrating from Syria to the south of Spain (Andalusia), Zriab created 24 musical themes (called "Nubot"), and each Nuba represented a different hour in the day. This new musical tradition then expanded to several larger musical traditions of Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, and Libya, as well as been influenced by North African music and style.

The ancient melodies have managed to survive the test of time due to religious use and mostly through old Jewish communities that have used these types of melodies in their prayers as means to carry their oral traditions, the same that can be heard in old synagogs till this very day.

This series was recorded by musician and composer Gilad Hazan, a respected scholar of Andalusian Music.
