Notes-Ki allows you to insert text and image notes into the effects chain of tracks. It features a browser that allows you to scroll through the different notes in the project, making the track where they are located visible and putting the focus on the notes.

There are 3 types of notes that can be used: Text, Checklist and Image. So you can use them as simple information notes, reminders of things to do or screenshots of your external hardware.

When you use Image notes and click on the image, it opens with the default image viewer of the operating system.

In Live 12, the image can be automatically copied to the project folder. So the project can be shared with other users and the correct path to the image will be maintained.

It is possible to set the color of each note and it will be displayed in the browser as well. So you can create a color system based on the importance or purpose of each note.

Notes-Ki Browser is displayed in a floating window. It shows the name of the track where the note is located as well as the note type.

Thanks to the color setting of each note you can identify which tasks are still pending on each track. If you share the project with another user, they can quickly see which tracks have been annotated.

Clicking on the browser list automatically displays the track where the note is located and puts the focus on it. Scrolling the track’s effects chain left or right so that the note is visible.

Scapeshift is a generative groovebox and sequencer. I started building it in a hospital bed as a tool to soundtrack videos. I was documenting my recovery from major cancer surgery and I wanted a tool that would be fast and flexible and output ready-mixed music.

But I’ve ended up using it for way more than that. It’s become an inspiration machine that can take me all the way to a finished track. I’ve already written and released a full EP with it. Right now I’m listening to it in Wander mode, getting my mind melted as it weaves through continuous variations.

HOW I DISCOVERED THE FIVE-STEP FORMULA...
In my career as a pro DJ, I played 1000s of gigs, including for U2 in Dublin, at Privilege in Ibiza (at the time the world's biggest club) and for Ministry of Sound. Throughout, I always puzzled why some DJs "made it", and some didn't.

When I compared those DJs with myself, and with other successful DJs, I started to realise that there were five big areas that DJs had to succeed in - and that if they neglected just one, it was game over before they'd even begun!

But most interestingly, I also discovered that a DJ doesn't need to be AMAZING in all of the areas to succeed - just knowing what they are and working deliberately on them is enough to improve, rapidly!

When I first revealed all of this in my book Rock the Dancefloor! in 2016, it was all very new, but it’s since helped 1000s of DJs understand what they really need to do to improve.

FROM BOOK TO COURSE...
