Brooklyn-based and internationally raised reggaeton vocalist Dynasty is finally here to serve up some heat. He brings his encyclopedic understanding of Latin music and his incredible vocal character to this floorboard-lifting sample pack. He reaches far down to the roots of reggaeton and the Dem bow break to deliver a dynamic and heartfelt performance that Splice sound designers captured and cut up into a carefully cataloged collection of loops and one-shots. This pack pays homage to the likes of Nando Boom, Bobo General, and Sleepy Wonder, but also digs deeper with everything from guitar-roots riffs to razor-barbed vocal lines to trap-influenced Reggaeton bravado.

We partnered with Patexx for a deep dive into modern dancehall—an influential genre of Jamaican pop music originating in the late 1970s. Its name is owed to the spaces where popular Jamaican recordings were aired by local sound systems. Initially, the genre was a more sparse version of reggae than the roots style, which dominated much of the 1970s. In the mid-1980s, however, digital instrumentation became more prevalent, changing the sound considerably and becoming increasingly characterized by faster rhythms.

The Splice Originals team joined forces with Devon Dixon who performs as Von Xon to capture improvised keyboard, organ, Rhodes, and synth ideas. We then packaged them up as MIDI and Serum presets for you to run wild with. Inspired by everything from roots reggae to gospel music, from jazz and J Dilla to alternative musicians like Sufjan Stevens and Son Lux, this pack offers versatility with professional execution, plus Dixon’s signature twist.

The Finnish producer, songwriter, and DJ spends every day in his studio filled with old synths and guitars.
