Sketching Strings isn't a high end string library - its not designed to be.

Instead it was designed as a tool to use for sketching out string tracks on the fly without having to wait for long periods of time while loading up the huge string patches for your libraries.

PART 2 OF THE MESS HALL SERIES! This was one of my first kits on sounds.com and also my most successful. So I decided to make a part 2! Some of my most nasty of collections are in this kit. ENJOY!

THE SAMPLING PROCESS
Adam Monroe's Honky Tonk Piano was sampled from a vintage Chickering upright piano - exact age unknown - primarily through a Neumann TLM 102 microphone. The piano had undoubtedly seem some action, and although it could be tuned (one note at a time) the tone of the piano was a bit on the "honky" side. The piano was sampled close-miced with lid open in mono, but each note was carefully panned to creat a stereo effect. An AKG D112 was used initially in order to capture the lower frequencies, but the TLM 102 did a fine enough job on its own.

The theremin is an electronic instrument patented in 1928 by Leon Theremin. The typical theremin users two oscillators - one producing a static frequency, one variable - and amplifies the difference of these two signals to produce sine waves at different frequencies, thus creating different pitches. A theremin uses a secondary circuit to control amplitude. You can control pitch/volume with your hands by adjusting the position of your hands in relation to the two antennas of the theremin, thus making it one of the only instruments in the world that you play but never touch!

The library is based on 25 tenor saxophone samples with tempo and key information. Each phrase is usually between 1 and 4 bars long. All phrases are played on the same harmony pattern and can be easily combined with other instruments, playing in the same key. This makes it easy to create a complete song arrangement. The phrases are based in the jazz genre, but they also work great in other genres like pop, chill or blues.

The library is based on 34 Banjo samples with tempo and key information. Each phrase is usually between 1 and 4 bars long plus a separate end. All phrases are played on the same harmony pattern and can be easily combined with each other. This makes it easy to create a complete song arrangement. The genres range from pop, r&b, rock to chill out.
