The melodic side of Techno is strongly inspired by Stephan Bodzin, Tale Of Us, Afterlife and Festivals like Awakenings, Tomorrowland or Melt Festival. Carefully crafted from scratch, we used the 3000 Volt Plasma Drive in combination with a modular synth as well as the Dave smith OB-6 or Access Virus TI to host that so much apprechiated organic feel, which gives the required deepness for this genre.

This pack was born from the Senegal edition of Splice Sessions. The producer Iss 814 (born Ismaila Talla) used some of the raw material from those sessions recorded in Dakar last April to craft his own sounds. The resulting pack amplifies the style he originated called Dakar Trap, combining West African rhythms with those of western hip hop. In addition to plenty of brand new material, Ismaila included some of his signature beats in this pack.

Wagane Faye - a prominent keyboardist for many of Dakar’s mbalax and Afrobeat bands - joined us at Laboutique Studios Dakar to record ample MIDI in the styles of mbalax, Afrobeat, dancehall, Afroswing, and Afropop. We then cut those MIDI performances into loops and made corresponding Serum presets for each. These presets focus on the sounds of West Africa. You'll find fula flutes, ngoni, kora, marimba, balafon, kalimba, percussion, plus synths, organs, and bass sounds.

Recorded at Studio Laboutique in Dakar, some of West Africa's top musicians gathered to capture the Senegalese take on the highlife and Afrobeat sounds of Nigeria. Drawing inspiration from iconic artists like Fela Kuti and Ebo Taylor, modern dancehall influences were injected into this pack as well.
