Neil shares his favorite recording techniques that have been used countless times in his work with legendary artists that include Dire Straits, Bruce Hornsby, Paul McCartney, and Sting. With Neil for this session is Kenny Aronoff, a world-class drummer whose drumming on records for artists like Elton John; Ray Charles; Lynyrd Skynyrd; and The Rolling Stones; has helped to shape his 35+ year career as one of the most recorded drummers in the world. Together they record a full drum kit using a whopping 26 simultaneous inputs, talking with us about drums, production techniques, and how to make the best out of a great recording session.

In this class, Jose Dabdoub is going to share his process in creating a song entirely in pro tools. You will learn how to work with Pro Tool’s included virtual instruments and plugins. The techniques presented are focused on working with midi and more specific to electronic music. Aside from virtual instruments, this is a great format to learn essential processing like EQ, compression, gating and master bus processing, since you can download the session and open it exactly as shown. In this tutorial, Mario Gonzalez, a world class trumpet player and audio engineer, will show you the steps required to work and mix Big Band. This genre requires more minimalist work compared to other genres like pop-rock. The process in this course is based more on groups than individual channels. Mario works through a whole session from beginning to end, while explaining how to conserve the natural tone of the instruments, and achieving cohesion and union in the band’s performance.
