The Cambridge History of Medieval Music

The Cambridge History of Medieval Music
2018 | ISBN-10: 0521513480 | 1226 Pages | PDF | 60 MB
Spanning a millennium of musical history, this monumental volume brings together nearly forty leading authorities to survey the music of Western Europe in the Middle Ages. All of the major aspects of medieval music are considered, making use of the latest research and thinking to discuss everything from the earliest genres of chant, through the music of the liturgy, to the riches of the vernacular song of the trouveres and troubadours. Alongside this account of the core repertory of monophony, The Cambridge History of Medieval Music tells the story of the birth of polyphonic music, and studies the genres of organum, conductus, motet and polyphonic song. Key composers of the period are introduced, such as Leoninus, Perotinus, Adam de la Halle, Philippe de Vitry and Guillaume de Machaut, and other chapters examine topics ranging from musical theory and performance to institutions, culture and collection.

AudioThing miniVerb v1.0.0 [WiN]

AudioThing miniVerb
Team R2R | 19 October 2018 | 5.2 MB
miniVerb is an 8-bit/chiptune and lofi reverb effect inspired by the sound of 80s game consoles and retrocomputers.

Early consoles didn’t have much power for DSP effects, so the video game composers at that time had to improvise. The most common way to add a sense of space/reverb to the sound was to sacrifice one of the internal tracks to play a delayed version of the original sound, essentially using a slapback echo to add depth.

SkillShare Why Do We Producers Use Audio Compression [TUTORiAL]

SkillShare Why Do We Producers Use Audio Compression
FANTASTiC | 19 October 2018 | 2.63 GB
I guarantee you, compression will be the last audio plugin you learn in-depth. However, it's the audio plugin which will exponentially improve your sound and creativity.

It first requires an understanding of how audio compression and dynamics work, and secondly, requires a trained ear to hear the benefits and negative artifacts you are applying to your audio signal.

Oxford Studies in Music Theory Organized Time: Rhythm, Tonality, and Form

Oxford Studies in Music Theory Organized Time: Rhythm, Tonality, and Form
English | 2018 | ISBN: 0190696486 | 440 Pages | PDF | 32.83 MB
Organized Time is the first attempt to unite theories of harmony, rhythm and meter, and form under a common idea of structured time. Building off of recent advances in music theory in essential subfields-rhythmic theory, tonal structure, and the theory of musical form-author Jason Yust demonstrates that tonal music exhibits similar hierarchical organization in each of these dimensions. Yust develops a network model for temporal structure with an application of mathematical graph theory, which leads ultimately to musical applications of a multi-dimensional polytope called the associahedron. A wealth of analytical examples includes not only the familiar tonal canon-J.S. Bach, Mozart, Schumann-but also lesser known masters of the musical Enlightenment such as C.P.E. and J.C. Bach, Boccherini, and Johann Gottlieb Graun.
